I help transform endurance athletes to reinforce consistent training while creating an injury-free and healthy lifestyle for peak performance

Jordan Placella, PT, DPT

Hi! I'm Jordan - a physical therapist and endurance coach born and bred in Suffolk County, NY. I help migrate athletes out of the medical system and back to consistent and healthy training.

Sports have always played an important role in my life. As much as I've enjoyed the highs of competition, I've also dealt with the lows of injury, which tested every ounce of my patience and mental fortitude. Yet, I learned that by making sensible decisions and trusting in my body's ability to adapt and overcome, I could recover and return to my sport stronger than before.

I wasn't always an endurance athlete. I gravitated toward explosive sports during the early part of my life. I mainly competed in powerlifting and played collegiate lacrosse (SUNY Oneonta). However, there was something about endurance sports that drew me in. I fell in love with the mental hurdle required to excel at a sport where you are your biggest competition.

As I did more and more races, I quickly learned that your mind plays a critical role in endurance sports. Not only did I develop the mental skills to compete, but I couldn't help but notice my improved mood and mental health, which had a rippling effect on my social life and career.

Whether finishing your first 5K, hitting a PR on a 10k, getting on the podium at your local triathlon, training to become healthier, or trying to finally accomplish your first Ironman, endurance sports will teach you more than health and fitness. Consistency of training without the fear of (re)injury is a critical component and is something I will help you master so you can become more autonomous in your training.

As any athlete knows, it's common to experience bumps and bruises that, if managed haphazardly, can derail your training and impede your progress toward your goals. Early in my running career, I experienced a constant and nagging achilles tendinopathy that hindered my ability to train at my best. Although I may not have performed as well at the time, with proper rehab and structure, I was able to continue training and exceed my prior level of performance.

At this point, I've helped hundreds of athletes and learned one thing: there's no limit to what your body can do. With proper guidance, let me help you navigate and overcome your injury so you can enjoy consistent and healthy training without resorting to unnecessary surgeries/medications. My aim is to safely streamline your rehab if you're dealing with a running-related or training injury. I will do everything in my power to get you back to training promptly while keeping you in the driver's seat and preventing re-injury.

There's nothing that I enjoy more than helping dedicated athletes like you. Integrity, trust, passion, and impact are the core values that I proudly hold to. I promise to stand by these values from our first visit to our last. I'm excited to learn more about your story as an athlete and a person. Let's get you off the couch and back on the road to be more successful in your sport and continue hitting stride.
